Chamber member is awarded for community service
At their fifth annual Evening of Thanks awards dinner, First 5 San Joaquin Children & Families Commission recently recognized Stockton’s Evergreen Professional Hypnotherapy “for their innovative efforts in promoting the importance of tobacco-free environments throughout the community.”
Into its fifth successful year offering free smoking cessation countywide to those who qualify, Evergreen is credited with impacting the lives of more than 100 children from in utero to age five years.
In addition to the First 5 program, which is structured to protect small children from the dangers of secondhand smoke, Evergreen’s Founder and Director Dr. Ginny Lucas, selected as Stockton’s 2003-2004 Small Business Person of the Year, has made it public policy since 1992 to provide free smoking cessation for all teens under 18 who wish to use clinical hypnosis to break the habit.
As reported 10/27 on TV news, in a recent study conducted by the North Shore Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital in Salem, Mass., clinical hypnosis met with greater success than nicotine replacement products. Surprisingly to many, even the group that quit “cold turkey” came in second to professional hypnosis — also scoring higher than nicotine pills, patches, gum, lozenges and inhalers.
